Shadlack Lord Montgomery  (Monte)

Sire:  Ithersay Black Knight
Dam: Shadlack Bonny
  • Monte was born in 1993 and was imported from England as a yearling.  John Williamson purchased him for Jenson Shires at the annual sale in England.  He topped the sale for stud colts and was then transported to the Jenson Shires farm.
  • Monte was outstanding in his physical make up but one of his outstanding traits was to put a good foot on every foal he sired.  You could identify the sire of any of his foals by looking at their feet.  They were remarkable and that trait has carried on to the mares we have added into the Jenson Shire herd.
  • He instilled great disposition
  • Monte carried a strong rear quarter and tail set
  • Performed Well in harness
  • First embryo transfer produced from Shadlack Lord Montgomery (Monte)

Black Park Defender

Sire: Gladwin Courages Blackjack
Dam: Black Park Lady Patricia
  • The stallion on the mares side was sired by the great Fox Valley Orion.  This stallion carried a tremendously solid genetic background that served him well while setting a base for many of our mares in the Jenson Shire herd.  This type of pedigree is extremely influential in the US by carrying the quality traits desired of the Shires breed.
  • Defender supported that high quality base in each of all of his offspring that we continue to raise. His disposition was great and has provided a sound set of mares that will continue to provide the high quality of Shire we demand.
  • Defender had a very mellow disposition
  • He carried a very good rear quarter with a very desirable tail set.
  • He could wear harness well
  • His movement was excellent
  • He stamped good color and markings on his foals
  • His legacy will carry on strong in our breeding herd and help hold the continued high quality of Shire we expect to raise in the United States
